2 New Jersey Restaurants Ranked Among Most Romantic In U.S.

If you're planning ahead for Valentine’s Day, look no further than New Jersey. Two of the country's most romantic restaurants are here, according to one new ranking.

Cafe Matisse in Rutherford and Franklinville Inn in Franklinville have been included in OpenTable’s list of 100 Most Romantic Restaurants In America.

The list was created using the opinions of more than 10 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 24,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

According to OpenTable, the list is dotted with restaurants located on picturesque properties and eateries showcasing cozy dining rooms with incredible ambiance.

"These winning restaurants understand that sharing a delicious meal is a universal rite of courtship at any stage of a relationship," said Caroline Potter, OpenTable chief dining officer. "Whether diners are out celebrating Valentine's Day or simply connecting over a flirty dinner, this year's honorees excel at setting the table for romance."

Numerous recent customers left feedback on OpenTable that reflected the rankings of the local restaurants.

"The food was great!! We enjoyed everything. Waiter was very good. Atmosphere was nice we sat by the fireplace. Want that spot every time," said a recent review of Franklinville Inn.

"Our meal was as amazing as it always is. Everything is always cooked to perfection and the food is always the right temperature. The meal is never rushed, but it also doesn't lag. It's served at just the right pace. It continues to be one of our favorite places to eat," another Franklinville Inn reviewer said.

Diners also gave rave reviews for Cafe Matisse. "Continues to be my most favorite restaurant in the tri-state area. Their menu is unique, exotic and magnificent! Their waiters are gracious and attentive, without getting in the way. Larry, is the BEST, as is their Chef, decor, and every wonderful morsel that you can eat there...and the atmosphere is just magnifique! Love it!," one person wrote.

Another said: "This is my favorite restaurant in NJ and even NY area. Fabulous everything. Decor, service and food."
