Crash Kills 99-Year-Old Woman In South Jersey, Authorities Say
A Honda and a Mercedes collided along Route 42.
MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A woman is dead, and two others were taken to the hospital after a crash on July 8 along Route 42, the Monroe Township Police Department said.
At around 8:45 p.m., two vehicles crashed at the intersection of Lake Avenue and North Black Horse Pike (Route 42).
According to early evidence, an 86-year-old man from Williamstown was driving a 2015 Honda CR-V west along Lake Avenue when he went into the intersection during a red light.

After crossing the northbound lanes and moving into the southbound lanes, the Honda collided with a 2019 white Mercedes-Benz E450.
A 49-year-old woman from Williamstown was driving the Mercedes south through the intersection during a green light.

The Honda rotated from the crash and hit a guardrail towards the southwest area of the intersection.
The Mercedes was also turned around before stopping while facing north within the southbound lanes.
The Honda's front seat passenger was trapped inside before being rescued by members of the fire department, officials said.
The 99-year-old woman, from Sewell, was taken to Cooper University Hospital's Trauma Center where she died on July 9 from her injuries.
Both drivers were taken to Jefferson Washington Township Hospital. Their condition is unknown.
