Amazon Thief: NJ Delivery Driver Swipes More Than $75K In Packages

BRIDGETON, NJ — A 43-year-old man was sentenced to five years in state prison on Friday after he stole more than $75,000 worth of packages from Amazon, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said.

Akeem Johnson, of Bridgeton, accepted a plea agreement for identity theft after posing as a co-worker.

Johnson worked for a third-party contractor who delivered Amazon packages to United States Post Office buildings.

According to court records, he did not deliver multiple pallets of shipments and used a colleague's identification card to get into an Amazon facility in Logan Township to get packages.

The goods were estimated at more than $75,000 in value.

He was also given concurrent sentences for two Cumberland County cases, officials added.
