South Jersey Police Dispatcher Illegally Shared Restricted Data: Prosecutor

MILLVILLE, NJ — A former South Jersey police dispatcher is facing charges after authorities say she illegally shared restricted information from law-enforcement databases.

Samantha J. Simpkins, 30, worked as a dispatcher and telecommunicator for the Millville Police Department. In that role, she acted outside her authority while accessing multiple restricted items of data from Millville police and New Jersey Judiciary databases, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

Simpkins, of Cedarville, shared restricted information from the databases with unauthorized individuals multiple times between November 2024 and this past August, prosecutors said.

She was arrested Thursday and released with conditions. Simpkins was charged with:

• official misconduct (second-degree)
• computer theft by unlawful reproduction of computer data (one second-degree count, one third-degree count)
• computer theft by unlawful access of computer data (third-degree)
• unlawful access and disclosure of restricted data (second-degree)
• unlawful access of restricted data (third-degree)

Simpkins didn't have a listed attorney in online court records on Friday.

Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae thanked Millville police for cooperating with investigators.
