KENT COUNTY, DE — The body of 47-year-old oysterman Matthew Oliver, of Millville, New Jersey, was found by commercial watermen on Tuesday in the Delaware Bay, according to NJ Advance Media.
Oliver was reported missing near Cumberland County's Gandy's Beach on April 9 after being on the Bon Secour commercial fishing boat as a crew member.
The United States Coast Guard and other responders searched for two days before suspending the operation.
Oliver was a veteran of the water and considered an advanced member of the local fishing community, according to Shore News Network.
Those who knew him said Oliver was candid about the dangers commercial fishermen faced and had a fear of going overboard and not being found.
