Vineland – The Rowan College of South Jersey–Cumberland Campus Bands will present their annual South Jersey Community Band Festival on Thursday, April 30. This free concert takes place at 6:30 p.m. in the Guaracini Center.
The community band festival will feature the following five regional community bands: The Gene and Friends Jazz Quartet from Vineland; Not Another Oompah Band from Egg Harbor Township; The Western Atlantic Wind Ensemble from Buena; The John Walter Band Brass Quintet from Cape May Courthouse; and the Barrington Concert Band from Barrington.
The RCSJ–Cumberland Wind Symphony will perform, and the program will close with a combined band selection.
“For almost 20 years, the RCSJ–Cumberland Campus Bands have hosted this annual celebration of South Jersey community music," said Joseph Akinskas, founding director of the RCSJ Bands.
“The array of musicians and repertoire, capped off by a combined band concert finale, clearly illustrates the commitment and versatility of the 100-plus participating musicians to 'keeping live music alive.'"
The RCSJ–Cumberland Campus Bands are entering their 43rd performance season with Akinskas.
