WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 31-year-old man is the first of two suspects who have been identified after a robbery and another attempted robbery at a trading card store in South Jersey, the Washington Township Police said.
Rafael A. Gordian, of Philadelphia, is wanted on charges of third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary and third-degree attempted burglary.
On July 1, Gordian and another person broke the front window of "Frank's Card Shop" along Route 42 and were able to get inside, authorities said.
They then stole around $10,000 worth of Pokémon cards, according to ABC News.
Video from the store at around 4 a.m. shows the store's glass door shattered and details that most of the items stolen were graded cards and Elite Trainer Boxes.
On July 10, the two returned with a hammer but were unable to get into the store.
According to police, Gordian was driving a red Ford Taurus with Pennsylvania plates during both cases.
The second suspect shown in surveillance photos is yet to be identified.
They can be seen wearing a gray/black hooded sweatshirt while carrying a hammer and trash bag.
A break-in at "Lurk Cards and Collectibles,"a Gloucester Township store about two-and-a-half miles away from "Frank's," occurred on Wednesday and left the front window of the shop smashed on the ground.
The store is operating on a normal schedule, and it was not immediately clear if authorities believe that the two cases are connected.
According to NJ Advance Media, thieves got away with about $1,000 worth of cards in just minutes in what could have been a much greater loss had not decoy boxes been displayed by the store in case of a burglary.
Anyone with information or with an agency that has handled other cases of trading card store burglaries is asked to contact Detective Cody Evanko at Cmevanko@pd.twp.washington.nj.us or Detective Joe Russo at (856) 589-6664.
