DEPTFORD, NJ — A large fire at the Narraticon Apartments complex left 12 people homeless early Monday, authorities said.
According to Union Fire Company #1, firefighters responded at around 12:45 a.m. to 129 Hemlock Ct. for a report of a dwelling fire with flames on the balcony and people possibly trapped inside.
The situation was escalated to a working fire and upgraded to a three-alarm designation to bring in more resources and crews.
According to ABC, nine units were damaged during a partial collapse of the building. One person was left with minor smoke inhalation but declined to be medically treated.
The fire was cleared at around 3 a.m., officials added.
The American Red Cross said they are assisting 12 people with temporary lodging, food, clothing, and other needs.
