BRIDGETON, NJ — A 35-year-old man from Bridgeton admitted he sexually assaulted a girl in 2025, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said.
Alex Torres-Lopez pleaded guilty as part of an agreement to one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault on Thursday.
In January, detectives learned from the Trenton Police that a 12-year-old girl who lived in the city was the victim of a sexual assault.
Torres-Lopez was then identified as a subject.
According to authorities, Torres-Lopez met the girl on social media using Snapchat and Roblox.
He then met her in Trenton during the fall of 2025 for sexual intercourse on multiple occasions.
Torres-Lopez also had the girl send him pornographic photos and videos of herself, officials said.
The state is recommending a sentence of 20 years in jail without parole in accordance with the Jessica Lunsford Act.
Torres-Lopez will also have to be assessed at the state Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, be subject to parole supervision for life, and register as a sex offender under Megan's Law.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2027.
