MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 73-year-old woman died after she was hit by a driver who left the site of the crash on Thursday, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said.
Shaun D. Fennimore, 46, of Bellmawr, was charged with leaving the scene of a deadly accident and driving with a license.
At around 5:50 p.m., officers responded to a report that a woman was hit by a car along Blue Bell Road.
Margaret M. Flail was taken to the hospital and declared dead.
Police found the vehicle Fennimore was driving at a nearby "Heritage" store. Surveillance footage also showed him leaving it and running away.
K-9 Cairo tracked Fennimore down in a wooded area near Clayton Avenue and Railroad Avenue before he was taken into custody.
A warrant for blood and urine samples was also carried out, with the results yet to be confirmed, authorities said.
Fennimore faces a maximum of 10 years in jail for the second-degree offense and five years for the third-degree charge.
