Bankbridge Teacher Faces Discipline for Bullying Student

Teacher Steven Roth was captured on video verbally attacking one of his students.

A Bankbridge teacher who was videotaped bullying a student faces disciplinary action from the district and will be investigated by the state Department of Youth and Family Services, NBC10 reported Thursday night.

Steven Roth, who has nine years of teaching experience and makes $53,347, according to state records, is on paid administrative leave, after he was shown berating Julio Artuz, 15, in a video originally aired by ABC News.

Roth's three-minute rant against Artuz included threats to beat up the teen, as well as belittling remarks and a number of obscenities.

Bankbridge is the county's public special education high school, which draws from around the area. sends nine students to the North and South campuses, at a cost of just under $300,000, according to the most recent out-of-district placements approved by the school board.
