2 Injured In House Fire That Shut Down Highway In Deptford

The fire broke out in the basement of a house near Route 41, officials told Patch.

DEPTFORD, NJ — Two residents were burned Thursday in a house fire that temporarily shut down Route 41 in Deptford, officials told Patch.

The fire, called in at 11:18 a.m., emerged in the basement of a house on Little Drive, said Frank Battaglia, chief of the Deptford Fire Department's fifth battalion.

The fire, which damaged the basement, was placed under control in about an hour, Battaglia said.

Route 41, which connects to Little Drive, was temporarily closed in both directions.

511NJ issued a traffic advisory that called it a building fire. But only the house was impacted.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
