Cops Warn Partygoers Of Illegal Event In South Jersey

GLASSBORO, NJ — For the second time in just weeks, the Glassboro Police Department warned organizers and potential attendees of a large "pop-up" style party that such an event is illegal.

"Apparently, we must repeat ourselves when we say this is NOT a legally sanctioned party and is NOT welcome here," the department said.

A flyer advertising a gathering on Friday along Rowan Boulevard had surfaced on social media, prompting officials to serve a cease-and-desist letter to the host.

They also said they made the prospective organizer aware of the legal ramifications.

Additional officers will be on duty Friday night, ready to "issue summonses in record time."

On September 4, a similar party, labeled as "Rowan University Welcome Week," was scheduled from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Echo Plaza.

Police put an end to the event before it even began, turning away what might have been more than 800 attendees.

"The Borough of Glassboro will never stand for some random person to decide to come to our town and throw an illegal party that shuts down our streets, invites chaos, and impedes the daily activities of our citizens," police added.
