Vineland Business Gets Tentative OK To Sell Recreational Pot

Columbia Care was one of seven companies in New Jersey given such approval on Monday, according to a press release.

TRENTON, NJ — A company with a Cumberland County location was one of seven alternative treatment centers that received tentative approval from the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission to sell recreational cannabis, the commission said in a press release.

The decision means if Columbia Care — which has a location on Delsea Drive in Vineland according to a state website that lists cannabis dispensary locations — passes an operational inspection and is issued a new license, will be allowed to cultivate cannabis, manufacture products that contain cannabis, and conduct retail sales to the general public in 13 dispensaries across the state, the press release said.

Patient access and public safety must be the utmost concern of companies like Columbia Care, Dianna Houenou, chair of the state’s Cannabis Regulatory Commission, said in the press release.

“These approvals were given based on commitments from the [alternative treatment centers] that we would not see adverse effects with expansion,” she said. “Expansion into the adult-use market - with a substantial advantageous start ahead of new applicants – is a privilege that must not be taken lightly. We expect these [alternative treatment centers] to uphold their promises to patients and communities and that recreational customers will be adequately served.

Other companies that received approval like Columbia Care include Curaleaf, which has locations in Bellmawr and Bordentown, according to the database.
