Four Haddonfield Friends School middle schoolers win big at the Coriell Institute Science Fair

Four Haddonfield Friends School middle school students won awards at the Coriell Institute Science Fair, and three were eligible to compete at the regional level.

Students Brittan Butler and Cadence Roy won first place in Consumer Science and Behavioral & Social Sciences, respectively. John Limjoco placed second in Microbiology and Ryan Turner received third place in Engineering. Cadence went on to compete at the regional level, Delaware Valley Science Fairs, and received honorable mention in her category.

“My students have a knack for asking insightful questions that reveal their curious nature. Driven by self-motivation, they rigorously apply The Scientific Method in the pursuit of ever increasing knowledge,” said teacher Ben Chen, who coached the students through the science fair process. Tr. Ben encouraged his students to pick topics that personally interested them, consider multiple approaches, and analyze the data they collected from hands-on experimenting for deeper answers.
