Girl, 7, Dies At South Jersey Motel Where CO Found: Cops

Carbon monoxide was detected and the motel was evacuated, police said.

South Jersey police say a 7-year-old girl died of cardiac arrest this weekend at a motel where carbon monoxide was detected.

The girl, who was not identified, suffered a cardiac arrest at the Friendship Motor Inn in Carney’s Point Township on Friday evening, according to CBS3. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police responded to the motel again on Saturday morning when four children and two adults tested positive for carbon monoxide, according to CBS3. The medical examiner, however, ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning as a cause of death for the 7-year-old.
