Gloucester County to Announce Student Video Contest Winners This Week

There were a total of 96, 30-second videos about safe driving submitted from nine Gloucester County high schools in this year's contest.

Winners of the 12th annual Gloucester County Student Video Contest on Wednesday, May 6 at the United Artists multiplex theater in Washington Township, 7 p.m.

There were a total of 96 videos about safe driving submitted from nine Gloucester County high schools in this year’s contest. The 30-second videos illustrate the dangers of drunk, distracted or drowsy driving, or the need for attention to pedestrian safety. Each video must incorporate the public service message “Drive to Stay Alive.”

The contest, sponsored by the Gloucester County Highway Safety Task Force,has been praised by the New Jersey Safety Council and the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety.

Some winning videos have been used as public service messages on local cable TV, police said.

The public is invited to attend the free screening of videos and the award ceremony at the theater, 121 Tuckahoe Road.

Students who attend with a valid Gloucester County ID will be eligible to win an iPad, to be awarded as a door prize.
