Gloucester County Government: Third Dose Vaccinations Are NOW AVAILABLE To Immunocompromised At GC COVID-19 Vaccine Site

Gloucester County’s COVID-19 Vaccination Site will begin administering 3rd doses of COVID-19 vaccinations to the moderately to severely immunocompromised patient on Tuesday, August 17.

People who are moderately to severely immunocompromised are especially vulnerable to COVID-19 because they are more at risk of serious, prolonged illness and may benefit from an additional COVID-19 dose to make sure they have enough protection against the virus.

CDC recommends people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised should receive an additional COVID-19 vaccine dose after the initial 2 doses and at least 28 days after a second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine has been administered.

At this time, the Gloucester County Vaccination Site is ONLY able to administer the Pfizer-BioNTech 3rd dose as that is what we have available on site. A request has been made to receive Moderna and we will update the public when we receive additional vaccine.

The CDC notes patients and doctors should decide who needs an extra dose and what the timing of that dose should be. No prescription or doctor's note will be needed. Individuals must attest their need for the third dose.

Immunocompromised includes people who have:

• Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
• Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
• Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
• Possess moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
• Possess advanced or untreated HIV infection
• Undergoing active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response
