Grab and Go Kids Planner: the Zoo, Magic Gardens and Charity Hockey
Here are five events that the whole family can enjoy this Valentine's Day weekend.

Stuck in the house again? Stumped as to where to go? Patch has the answer! Celebrate Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day or support a good charity this weekend at local venues that won't break the bank.
- Where/When: Flyers Skate Zone–601 Laurel Oak Rd., Voorhees, at 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11.
- What’s Going On: Hockey legends Bob Kelly, Brian Propp, Joe Watson, Larry Goodenough, Jim Watson and Reggie Leach will face the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation All-Stars on the ice to raise money for Type 1 diabetes research. One-hundred percent of the ticket’s proceeds go to the charity and last year’s game raised $13,000 alone! Don’t miss this epic event.
- Pricing: $10 a ticket

- Where/When: University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, 3260 South St., Philadelphia, PA, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12.
- What’s Going On: Experience the 30th annual festival and celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with music and dance performances, storytelling, arts and crafts, martial arts workshops and other children’s activities. And they wrap it all up with the not-to-be-missed, brilliantly colored Lion Dance Parade. This is a PECO World Culture Day event.
- Pricing: $10 general admission, $7 for senior citizens 65 and over, $6 for students with valid ID and children ages 6 to 17, free for children under 6
Family Jams: Good Luck Animals
- Where/When: Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, 1020-1022 South St., Philadelphia, PA, Saturday, Feb. 13 at noon.
- What’s Going On: The second Sunday of every month Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens hosts programs for the entire family known as Family Jams. February’s event is in honor of the children’s book The Good Luck Cat by Joy Harjo, and features art workshops that explore “Totem Animals” by PMG’s founding artist Isaiah Zagar, and a chance to create animal-inspired Valentine’s Day gifts for pets or family members. And while you are there check out the outdoor mosaic sculpture.

Open Arms: Family Evening at the Garden State Discovery Museum

- What's Going On: Families with children on the autism spectrum are invited to come and explore, play and discovery in this free after hours event. - Where/When: The Philadelphia Zoo–3400 West Girard Ave., Philadelphia PA, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 12 and 13.
- What’s Going On: Experience all of the animals and wonder the Philadelphia Zoo has to offer while sipping on hot chocolate. Visit the zoo’s most famous families and couples and find out fun facts about your favorite animal!
- Pricing: Two for $20 includes admission and tour, two for $40 includes admission, two hot chocolates, one plushie and tour. Four for $50 includes admission, four hot chocolates and tour. Each person is an additional $12 and that includes admission and one hot chocolate. Members receive $2.25 hot chocolate with membership card.
