Kevin Brockway Ties for Second at Colonial Conference Tournament
The West Deptford golfer shot a 77 to make first team all-conference Tuesday.

Kevin Brockway is the definition of clutch.
The senior golfer has led the Eagles week in and week out, delivering low scores under pressure.
So it was of little surprise to see his name near the top of the leaderboard at the Colonial Conference championships at Tuesday, where Brockway fired a 77 to tie for second in the tournament.

Brockway had to bounce back from an opening 40 to move into contention late on Westwood’s more challenging back nine, which coach John Cobb said spoke to Brockway’s resilience.
“He stepped up when it really mattered,” Cobb said. “I was really proud of that.”

The high finish was indicative of the kind of season Brockway has put together—the senior has been the medalist nearly every match the Eagles have played, regularly shooting around 40 for nine holes, with one eye-popping 36 on a day when the wind howled at RiverWinds.
“He's worked extremely hard to get to this point—it's not by accident,” Cobb said. “He really blossomed into the leadership position this year.”
The overall conference title went to Haddonfield’s Mike Lacatena, who only recently came back from a near-season-ending wrist injury. Lacatena put up a 73 to put himself well ahead of the pack.
Joining Brockway as first-team all-conference players were teammates Matt Santarelli, who shot 85, and Ritchie Stolz, who didn’t play Tuesday, but was voted on to the team. Ryan Henry, who shot 88, made second team all-conference.
The golfers only get a day’s rest before they have to put it all on the line in another major tournament, this time at Pitman for the Gloucester County Championships, which start late Thursday morning.
Cobb said he’s hopeful the performances in the Colonial tournament give the Eagles some momentum heading into what should be a challenging field.
While Clearview, which uses Pitman as its home course, looks to be the odds-on favorite Thursday, Cobb said West Deptford has a chance, if the team can continue playing smart golf.
“We can be right in the running,” he said. “I think we're in the best position we've been entering the county tournament.”
