Knifepoint Robbery At Movie Theater In Deptford; Suspect Wanted: Police

The suspect threatened the only employee on-duty, authorities said.

DEPTFORD, NJ — An unknown suspect entered a movie theater in Deptford Township and robbed an employee at knifepoint, authorities said.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Friday at AMC Deptford, where a man with a knife threatened the only employee on-duty, police said.

After realizing no money was available, the suspect fled through the theater's rear emergency exit, police said. He was last seen fleeing toward the back of the property.

The victim was unhurt.

Police described the suspect as a Black or Hispanic man of average height and build. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt with the hood up, dark pants, and dark footwear while carrying a large shoulder-style bag, police said.

He had a silver-colored knife, police said.
