Man Forces Child To Perform Sex Act In NJ: Prosecutor

NATIONAL PARK, NJ — A 27-year-old man was arrested for sexually assaulting a minor during a West Deptford/National Park area encounter, the Gloucester County Police Department said.

Valeed Anjum, of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

On July 29, officers with the West Deptford Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in National Park.

They were able to speak with Anjum and a 12-year-old girl who was in the car with him.

She was safely returned home, officials said.

Detectives found that Anjum had talked with her through Snapchat and they had sexual contact with each other.

During their review of those chats, photos showing sexual abuse involving other minors were also found.

Anjum and the girl had spent time in the West Deptford/National Park area, during which he forced her to perform a sex act.

The girl also reported that he touched her under her clothes.

On Thursday, Bensalem Police carried out a search warrant and arrested Anjum at his home.

He admitted to the sex act and was taken to the Bucks County Correctional Facility for extradition to New Jersey.

According to the Bensalem Township Police Department, there are at least four other victims throughout the United States between the ages of 10 and 15 who Anjum contacted through Snapchat and Roblox.

He would send graphic photos to the minors and, in some cases, paid them to send similar photos back, officials added.

Anjum, who is also believed to have used the alias "Puma," used the Snapchat usernames "poomdoom69" and "brain.rotty."

He was also charged by Bensalem Police with multiple counts of unlawful contact with a minor, sexual abuse of a child, criminal use of communication facility, and other connected charges.

A district judge set his bail at 10 percent of $10 million.

In New Jersey, Anjum faces maximum sentences of life in jail for the first-degree charge, 10 years for the second-degree charge, and five years for the third-degree charge.
