Man Jumps From Hotel Window, Gets Shot While Fleeing South Jersey Cops: Prosecutor
An officer shot and wounded the man as he fled police, who were called to the hotel for a disturbance, authorities said.
DEPTFORD, NJ — A man jumped from a Deptford hotel window and got shot by police while fleeing authorities on Thanksgiving, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office (GCPO).
Police were called to the Fairfield Inn on Thursday for a disturbance. When they arrived, a man jumped out of a second-floor window and fled from police, according to prosecutors.
A Deptford officer shot the man during the pursuit, authorities said. The suspect was taken into custody and driven to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The GCPO is investigating the incident.
The suspect's name has not been released as of Friday morning.

It's unclear why the Deptford officer fired his weapon. Authorities have additional knowledge of the interaction between the man and police, but it's being withheld at this time because the investigation is still active, a GCPO spokesperson told Patch.
The incident brought a heavy police presence to the area. There were closures on both sides of Route 42 on Thursday as authorities investigated the scene.
Fairfield Inn is located between Route 42 and Hurfville Road (Route 41).
