Man Loses Control, Dies In Crash Along South Jersey Highway, Police Say
He hit multiple objects during the crash.
DEPTFORD, NJ — A 41-year-old man was killed on Wednesday morning after a crash along State Highway 42, New Jersey State Police said.
At around 3:40 a.m., troopers responded to mile marker 12 in Deptford for a vehicle crash.
Based on early evidence, Richard K. Merrill, of Pine Hill, was driving a Ford SUV when he lost control and ran off the road to the left.

He then hit a guardrail and a pole.
Merrill died from his injuries, according to officials.

The crash is still under review.
Overhead footage provided by ABC News showed the SUV after it collided with the pole on Wednesday, leaving remnants of the vehicle scattered throughout the grass.
