Medals Finally Bestowed On Some Gloucester County Veterans

All four branches of the military were represented by the medal recipients.

WOODBURY, NJ – The Gloucester County Board of Commissioners bestowed federal medals on Tuesday on 31 South Jersey residents who are also United States veterans, according to a press release.

The honorees had earned the medals during their time in service but had not been presented with them until the event, and seven of the veterans had died before they could receive their medals, according to the press release.

“These military veterans deserve our deepest respect and gratitude,” Gloucester County Commissioner Frank J. DiMarco said in the release.

The county commissioners played a part in ensuring these veterans received their medals, according to DiMarco.

Gloucester County Commissioner Denice DiCarlo spoke of the debt of gratitude the county has for the medal recipients.

“We are grateful for the chance to express our deepest thanks and appreciation at this ceremony to these veterans who risked their lives to serve our country,” she said in the press release.
