New Details In Fatal Gloucester County Crash Involving Pedestrian

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ — New details were released regarding a deadly crash on a Gloucester County highway.
A man had stepped outside of his car while on state Route 55 north in Franklin Township a little after 12:30 a.m. on Thursday to fix a tire, according to New Jersey State Police.
Brian Caldwell, 48, of Cape May was driving a pickup truck in the same area and that pickup truck struck the man's car and the man trying to fix the tire, State Police said.

The man, who police said would not be identified until his next of kin could be notified, was killed, according to State Police.
Caldwell was arrested for DUI, charged with death by auto and sent to Salem County Prison, State Police said.

The investigation was continuing as of Friday morning, according to State Police.
