New Detective Joins Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office

A sheriff's officer was sworn in as the new detective on Monday.

A Gloucester County Sheriff’s Officer has become the newest detective with the county’s prosecutor’s office.

Reco McLeod was sworn in on Monday, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

In addition to serving as a sheriff’s officer for the past 14 months, McLeod was a corrections officer with the county Sheriff’s Department for 5 ½ years, and was an officer with the Camden County Metro Police for two years.

A graduate of the Camden County Police Academy, McLeod has degrees in criminal justice from Rowan College at Gloucester County and Thomas Edison University.

McLeod fills a vacancy left by the recent retirement of Lt. Barry Johnson.

“We appreciate his interest in the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office,” Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton said of McLeod. “He has a wide variety of law enforcement experience.

“Our detectives are very goal-oriented. Whenever there is a job, they’re there to do whatever it takes to be successful.”

“We expect a lot of all our detectives,” Captain of Detectives Robert Pietrzak told McLeod during his swearing-in. “You will find that quickly when you come here.”
