WEST DEPTFORD, NJ – The newest addition to the West Deptford Police Department – a radar trailer – will assist authorities in catching speeders, reading license plates and providing important information to the public, authorities said.

“This piece of equipment is packed with technology that will be a great tool for our department,” the department said in a Facebook post.

West Deptford Chief John Chambers told Patch the moment he saw a radar trailer he knew he had to get one for the community he serves.

“There have been many traffic studies out there that show [drivers] who see how fast they are going will slow down,” he said in an interview.

“We came across a vendor [at a police expo] that had this particular unit and had some references from other agencies,” Chambers continued. “We thought that it would be a really valuable tool for our fire agency and road benefit our residents.”
