NuStar 15th on Fortune's 100 Best List

The oil company moved up 15 spots from last year's rankings.

NuStar Energy, the Texas-based oil company that , jumped 15 spots, and will be ranked as the No. 15 company in the country to work for in Fortune magazine’s 2012 100 Best list.

The company was highlighted for having a no-layoff policy, paying all the cost of employees’ health care premiums–which ranked among the top 14 out of all companies surveyed–and matching 401(k) contributions up to six percent of employees’ pay.

The ranking is the best for the company in its history; NuStar ranked 30th in 2011, 21st in 2010 and 44th in 2009.

“Just earning a place on this prestigious list is a tremendous honor as some companies apply and never make the list,” NuStar chairman Bill Greehey said in a statement. “It’s even more noteworthy when you consider that we’ve earned a place four years in a row–every year that we’ve applied.”

280 firms applied for Fortune’s list this year, which uses a combination of confidential employee surveys–this year, they polled 246,000 people–and company audits to determine its annual rankings.

The company runs an , and has other New Jersey operations in Gloucester City, Perth Amboy and Linden.
