Patch Picks: the Super Bowl

This week, we feature some places to go catch the big game on Sunday.

Starting this week, Patch will run a new weekly feature called Patch Picks, highlighting editor and reader picks of great local businesses, destinations, services, organizations, ways to spend a day off and more.

You’ll find useful lists to help you, your family, friends, and significant others find the best places for everything from Sunday brunch to New Year’s Eve celebrations, pumpkin patches, date night destinations, florists, girlfriend nights out, kids party places, parks and more.

This week, we’re featuring places to go watch the Super Bowl:

  • , Elm Avenue and Route 45, Woodbury Heights: There’s a reason they have “Sports Bar” tacked on to the name—it’s not just a great diner, it’s also arguably the best spot, locally, to catch the Super Bowl or any other big game.
  • Rocking Stone Irish Pub, 2001 S. Delaware Ave., Paulsboro: We’re pretty sure neither the Steelers nor the Packers technically qualify as an Irish team, but the Packers at least wear green, which should count enough.
  • RiverWinds Restaurant: Maybe martinis and shrimp cocktail are your preferred football fare, in which case you can’t beat RiverWinds bar menu. Or, grab dinner at the start of the game, then hang out at the bar for the second half.
  • Clancy’s Pub, 304 Crescent Blvd., Brooklawn: They’re hosting a Super Bowl party for $50 per person, which gets you food, drinks and giveaways throughout the night. One guarantee: it’ll be loud.
  • Applebee’s, 1850 Deptford Center Rd., Deptford: OK, it’s a chain restaurant, but if you’re looking to take the family out, it’s a good a bet as any. Catch the first half, keep the kids away from the sugar-laden desserts and head home at halftime.
  • PJ Whelihan’s Pub, 425 Hurffville-Cross Keys Rd., Washington Township: It’s a little bit of a hike, but there isn’t a seat in the house that doesn’t have a view of at least five TVs. While it can seat about 200 people, it tends to get packed for big events, so be prepared.
  • Landmark Americana, 1 Mullica Hill Rd., Glassboro: If you’re a Rowan alum or current student, chances are you already thought of this one. Another bit of a hike, this one’s a best bet if you’re meeting up with some friends from college.
