Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Car In South Jersey, Police Say

The Honda hit the person while they were walking along Route 49.

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car along Route 49 early Saturday morning, New Jersey State Police said.

At around 12:30 a.m., troopers responded to a crash at mile marker 27.5.

Based on early evidence, the driver of a Honda passenger car was going west along Route 49 when the front of the vehicle hit someone who was walking in the westbound lanes.

The names of those involved are being withheld to conduct notifications to family members.
