Search-And-Rescue Team Deployed For Missing Retired Teacher In South Jersey

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A search-and-rescue team has been deployed in the search for a retired Gloucester County educator.

Logan Township police are searching for Stephen Ianotti with Gloucester County's LandSAR Unit (land search-and-rescue). Officials said he is "endangered."

Ianotti formerly taught math and coached football in the Kingsway Regional School District, according to Gloucester County Commissioner Christopher Konawel Jr.

Konawel, a Kingsway Regional High School alumnus, called Ianotti a "local legend."

Ianotti, 72, was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, a green sweat jacket, and gray beanie, according to the Gloucester County Office of Emergency Management.

He may be driving a 1997 black Jeep Wrangler (pictured below):

Ianotti is frequently in the areas of Logan Township, Mantua and Pitman, officials said. He is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and 130 pounds with gray or white hair.

Authorities didn't share when he was last seen.

Anyone with information on Ianotti's whereabouts is urged to immediately call 911 or the Logan Township Police Department at 856-467-0061.
