Sports: WDHS Week in Review/Preview
A look back at a light holiday week, as well as a glimpse into this week's schedule.
The bridge between Christmas and New Year’s saw little action for teams, but there were a few games to go around thanks to tournament action. The wrestling team continued to show why it is foolish to expect a decline this year, while the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams each earned a split of two tournament games.
Below, is a look back at the week that was, as well as a glimpse into this week’s schedule.
WRESTLING

The Eagles made a huge statement last week, at Egg Harbor Township Thursday.
The Eagles had two individual champions as Evan Zuzulock took gold at 120 pounds and Rory Bonner won the 182-pound title. Gerald (Towns) Owens was second at 220 and David Branco was second at heavyweight.

West Deptford is back in action Wednesday as it hosts Overbrook, in the first of five-straight home contests.
BOYS' BASKETBALL
The Eagles took fifth in the Delran Holiday Tournament last week. The team struggled in its opener against Delran, falling 73-50, but bounced back to claim a 60-46 Tim Krott had a big effort in the win, finishing with 10 points, four steals and three assists. Kyle Redorw had a team-high 15 points, while Tom Jakubowski had 11.
GIRLS' BASKETBALL
After going toe-to-toe with Gloucester Catholic in the opening round of the Gloucester Catholic Christmas Tournament, West Deptford moved back above .500 with a in the consolation game.
Megan Kirschling scored a team-high 15 points, Danielle McKeown netted 14 and Tarryn Bundy added 12 as the Eagles improved to 3-2.

No meets over the last week.
THIS WEEK
–The boys and girls swimming teams return from a two-week break to take on Pemberton at RiverWinds, Tuesday at 4 p.m.
–It’s rivalry week for the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams take on Gateway on Tuesday, followed by Haddonfield on Thursday.
–The bowling teams will go back-to-back as they face St. Augustine on Tuesday and Washington Township on Wednesday.
–The wrestling team looks to build on its solid start to the season against Overbook, Wednesday at 6 p.m.
