Traffic On 4 NJ-Phila Bridges Increased In 2021
The traffic on these 4 bridges in 2021 was almost 16% higher than 2020.
SOUTH JERSEY — The amount of total traffic on the four bridges looked after by the Delaware River Port Authority — the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross bridges — was 15.72% higher in 2021 than it was in 2020, according to a Delaware River Port Authority report.
In 2021, more than 46.6 million vehicles crossed those four bridges, and more than $302.8 million in tolls was collected, the report said. By way of comparison, in 2020, only about 40.2 million vehicles crossed those four bridges and only about $268.1 million in tolls was collected, according to the report.
Regardless of which year — either 2020 or 2021 — the Ben Franklin Bridge saw the most vehicle traffic, the report stated. However, in both those years, more toll money was collected at the Walt Whitman Bridge, according to the report.
