Two Tractor Trailer Crashes In One Hour In Same Area Of NJ Turnpike

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — Two separate crashes involving tractor-trailers occurred within an hour and fewer than a mile apart from each other, New Jersey State Police said.

The first crash occurred shortly before 8:10 a.m. on Wednesday in the northbound lanes on the New Jersey Turnpike at mile marker 19.2 in West Deptford, authorities said.

The preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred after a dump truck's tire came loose, went off the road and struck a guardrail, according to authorities. No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved in this crash, according to authorities.

The second crash happened a little after 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday in the southbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike at mile marker 18.9, authorities said.

The preliminary investigation into this crash suggests a tractor-trailer jackknifed while slowing down, according to authorities. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to authorities.

The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Inspira Medical Center, authorities said.

Both crashes temporarily slowed traffic in their respective area, according to authorities.

The investigation into both crashes was continuing as of Thursday, authorities said.
