West Deptford Field Hockey Falls in State Semifinals
The Eagles finished a season in which it had two separate 10-game unbeaten streaks with an 18-4-1 record and its first South Jersey title in four years.

Lauren Henry scored the lone goal for the West Deptford High School field hockey team in the Eagles’ 6-1 loss to Wall in the NJSIAA State Group 2 semifinals on Thursday, according to nj.com.
The loss means the Eagles wrap up the season with a record of 18-4-1, with its first South Jersey championship in four years.
After an exciting overtime win over Woodstown in the South Jersey Group 2 final, the Eagles made the roughly hour and a half trip up to Wall for a matchup with a Crimson Knights team that lost just twice this season and posted seven or more goals eight times this season.

Wall jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead on Thursday, despite the efforts of goalie Melissa Gregorio. Gregorio made a total of 14 saves in the contest.
The loss snapped West Deptford’s 10-game unbeaten streak. The Eagles hadn’t lost since Oct. 9. Prior to that, West Deptford won 10 games in a row after starting the season 0-2.

West Deptford advanced to the state semifinals after blowing through the South Jersey Group 2 playoffs with a 7-1 win over Sterling and a 4-1 win over Lower Cape May before the 1-0 win over Woodstown. The Eagles entered the South Jersey playoffs as the No. 1 seed.
Wall had a similar route to the state semis, defeating Monmouth 7-0, Delran 4-1, and Robbinsville 3-0 in the Central Jersey Group 2 tournament.
