West Deptford Football Sets School Shutout Streak Record
The Eagles dominated on both sides of the ball in beating Overbrook Saturday.

As the old football chestnut goes, defense wins championships.
If that's true, things are looking good for . The Eagles haven't allowed a point in nearly a month, and set a school record with their fourth straight shutout Saturday.
And they did it with youth, as the Eagles pulled their starters shortly into the second quarter and let the backups do most of the work in a 65-0 win over a depleted Overbrook squad.

“Our kids are really priding themselves on defense,” said West Deptford head coach Clyde Folsom. “They want to maintain the streak.”
The Eagles didn't allow a first down until late in the fourth quarter, forcing Overbrook to punt time and again, and got a pair of scores–a touchdown and a safety–off the pressure they put on the Rams on fourth down, which resulted in a pair of bad snaps near the end zone.

On offense, West Deptford got scores from all over the roster. Josh Cornelius and Nate Wadding each scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, while Gerald Towns, Brandon Holmes and Shai Mumford each carried for a score each.
Eagles defensive lineman Nick Pulli snared a fumble in the end zone for another score, and kick returner Arrin Bundy raced 60 yards to round out West Deptford's scoring on the afternoon.
Folsom had nothing but praise for his defensive squad, saying he'll count on them as the Eagles head into the Group 2 playoffs.
“If we're going to continue a run to a championship, we're going to have to play great defense,” he said.
Overbrook was playing with a completely reshaped roster after a little more than a week ago. Folsom gave credit to the Rams for getting back out on the field so quickly.
“We appreciate Overbrook playing,” he said. “It kept us focused all week in preparation for an opponent.”
With the win, West Deptford wrapped up the No. 2 seed in South Jersey, Group 2, and will take on the No. 7 seed at home Friday. That opponent will likely be Pemberton, which finished 4-4.
