West Deptford Man, 80, Dies Of Coronavirus

As of Wednesday, there are 178 cases of the coronavirus in West Deptford with 17 confirmed deaths.

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — An 80-year-old West Deptford man has died after testing positive for the coronavirus, Gloucester County officials announced Wednesday morning.

He was one of two new confirmed deaths related to the virus in the county that were announced on Wednesday. A 68-year-old Deptford woman also died after testing positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total number of virus-related deaths in Gloucester County to 193.

The county also announced 17 new cases of coronavirus, none of which originated in West Deptford. As of Wednesday, Gloucester County has conducted 28,629 total tests. Of these cases, 25,745 have come back negative. One case has been moved out of the county. Gloucester County’s total positive coronavirus case count is now 2,884.

As of Wednesday, there are 178 cases of the coronavirus in West Deptford with 17 confirmed deaths. There are 52 cases among residents at the Manor Care nursing home in West Deptford, with 16 confirmed deaths. There are another 47 cases among staff members, with two confirmed deaths. Statistics from nursing homes often don’t match up with statistics from the state.

Trace investigations are underway for all new cases in Gloucester County. Officials remind residents that the threat from coronavirus remains low. Gloucester County is expecting cases to rise. Social distancing is critical in flattening the curve and reducing cases.
