West Deptford Man Charged with Parents' Deaths: Police

Edward Coles Jr., 58, and his wife, Rosemarie, 55, were found dead in their home today at 11:26 a.m.

West Deptford, NJ -- A West Deptford couple was found deceased in their home on Pennfield Drive today, Aug. 26. Their son has been charged with causing their deaths, police said.

Edward Coles Jr., 58, and his wife, Rosemarie, 55, were former owners of a Mantua Township music store. Their son, Ryan Coles, 29, worked with his father when they owned the shop and lived with his parents in their home up until their death, police said.

A relative of Edward Coles Jr. notified the West Deptford Police Department of the deaths at 11:26 a.m. today when he stopped by the Coles home after he was unable to reach them by the phone on Thursday night, police said.

Ryan Coles was in the house when West Deptford officers arrived. They then transferred him to Inspira Hospital in Woodbury for a medical evaluation.

Ryan Coles' bail is set at $1 million. The death of Edward and Rosemarie Coles are under investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the West Deptford Police Department.

The Gloucester County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy on Aug. 27 to determine the cause and manner of death.
