West Deptford School Board to Hear Latest on Dress Code Proposal

While no decision is in the offing, the board will get updated on feedback to the proposal.

Though a vote is still far off, the is set to hear the latest word tonight on a proposed standardized dress code for the district.

Board member Peter Guzzetti, who has been spearheading the effort to talk with organizations from PTOs to student councils to get feedback on the idea, will give a presentation at the beginning of the meeting.

“He’s got a full report, good and bad,” said school board President Christopher Strano, who added that part of Guzzetti’s presentation aims to dispel some of the rumors surrounding the idea, including that the district is considering going over to school uniforms.

Strano, as he did , said the aim is to determine whether a formal, standardized dress code would improve things in the district.

“We need to start that conversation,” he said. “I want everybody to have a say in this.”

Though Guzzetti will present what’s happened so far in conversations about the idea, Strano said it isn’t likely there’ll be much, if any debate on the idea, since there’s no vote scheduled.

A final decision on the proposal should come by the end of the school year, Strano said.
