West Deptford Sports Wrap: Golf Wins, Girls' Track Tunes Up

The golfers knocked off Deptford in their last scheduled match of the season.

The golf team closed out the regular season with a shellacking of Deptford, winning 173-199 at Monday.

The Eagles came in bunched together—Kevin Brockway fired a 42 to lead the team, while Ryan Henry and Matt Santarelli each shot 43, and Zach Vorndran added a 45 to finish off the Spartans. Deptford's John Maslanik (45) was the only Spartan golfer to crack 50 on the links course.

Megan Kirschling won the high jump by nearly a foot, as the Eagles got their last races in at the Carl Lewis Relay Championships at Willingboro before sectionals at the end of the week.

Kirschling leaped 5-6, beating out a pair of jumpers who cleared 4-8. West Deptford also got high finishes in the pole vault from Claudia Theriault (second at 9-6) and Liz Douglas (third at 9-0, breaking her previous best), and Kiyah Owens was fifth in the shot put, with a heave of 31-2.75.

On the track, the girls finished third in the 1,600 sprint medley, as Douglas, Kirschling, Samantha Budd and Megan Knoblock combined for a 4:23.38, and were fifth in the 4x200 with a team of Drew Santana, Amber Jones, Zoe Shannon and Theriault.
