West Deptford Wrestlers Finish Out 2-1 Before Playoffs

The Eagles beat Audubon and Vineland, but couldn't get enough bonus points against Clearview as they wrapped up action before the start of the playoffs.

With a win over Audubon Friday and a split in Saturday's tri-meet, 's wrestlers are back on track for the playoffs after a pair of tough losses earlier in the week.

The Eagles jumped out early in both wins; against Audubon, they got quick pins from Evan Zuzulock and Christian Terinoni and won six of the first seven weight classes to pull away in the 47-15 victory.

Against Vineland, the Eagles got three pins in a row from Tyler Kaminsky, Zuzulock and Steven Alt to open the early lead, and finished the match with seven pins overall to get the 53-21 win.

Their match with Clearview was much like matches against Clayton/Glassboro and Paulsboro, as the Eagles fell just short on bonus points. The two teams split the bouts, 7-7, but Clearview managed four pins and two technical falls to outpace West Deptford, as the Eagles took the 38-32 loss.

The Eagles won't have much time to rest, as they'll open the playoffs at home against Barnegat Monday night, with a shot at revenge against Buena, who ousted the Eagles from the playoffs last year, on the line.
