YMCA of Gloucester County's Bright Beginnings Program Makes Going Back to School Easier
This community outreach program will provide children in need with the new clothes and school supplies needed to start the school year.

Having the right “stuff” to start school means more success with learning. YMCA of Gloucester County’s (YGC) Bright Beginnings Program is a community outreach program that provides underprivileged children in need with the new clothes and school supplies needed to start the school year with confidence and excitement. YGC has organized a planned shopping day for Saturday, August 22 at the Walmart on Clements Bridge Road in Deptford. After a fun bus ride in typical Y-fashion, singing and cheering are a must – the kids meet their volunteer shopper and head out to find shirts, pants, shoes, socks and coat. And at the end of the day, the kids receive a backpack filled with school supplies.
“Last year, I didn’t have to worry about my children starting school without all the necessary school supplies because of the YMCA of Gloucester County’s Backpack Buddy Program. YGC helped supply them with a brand new book bag, notebooks, pencils and more! This year I am excited to volunteer for YMCA of Gloucester County’s Bright Beginnings Program where I can help assist in a program that brought such joy to my family,” said a mother of a school-age children.
The YMCA of Gloucester County is seeking volunteers and generous donations from caring individuals to help make these children’s school year a little brighter. YGC is determined to provide shopping trips to 40 children in the Gloucester County area. The program relies on donations from local businesses & members of the community. Any donations are greatly appreciated. Donations will be accepted now through Monday, August 17.
