Details Released After 1 Killed, 2 People Shot In N.J. Street

Details were released Thursday after one person was killed and two others were shot in a New Jersey street, authorities said.

Details were released after one person was killed and two people were shot in a New Jersey street Wednesday night, authorities said.

Three people were shot in the apparent drive-by shooting around 11 p.m. on a Plainfield street, according to the Union County Prosecutor's Office.

The shooting left one Plainfield man dead and two others injured late Wednesday evening. The incident is under investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Thursday.

The deceased victim has been identified as 25-year-old Marcus Ellis.

Plainfield Police Division patrol units responding to a report of gunshots being fired rushed to the 700 block of Hillside Avenue at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday and found Ellis and one other shooting victim, a 26-year-old man, at the scene, according to the UCPO.

The two men were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where Ellis was pronounced dead shortly after 11:45 p.m., according to the UCPO.

While at the scene of the shooting, police were notified by personnel at the Muhlenberg emergency room in Plainfield of a third shooting victim who had driven himself there.

The 30-year-old male was also subsequently taken to Robert Wood Johnson for treatment. He and the other surviving shooting victim both suffered what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident remains under joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit.

Local and county law enforcement officers are investigating several bullet holes in a fence near the shooting, according to News12.
