1st Time In 17 Years Westfield Fire Department Is Fully Staffed
The addition of these new personnel has allowed the expansion of the fire department to 40 members.
WESTFIELD, NJ — For the first time in 17 years the Westfield Fire Department is fully staffed.
"Today is a significant accomplishment for the Westfield Fire Department and the Town of Westfield. Not only is today the first shift for 3 new firefighters, but the addition of these new personnel has allowed the expansion of the department to 40 members," said Town of Westfield, NJ Fire Department.
Four additional firefighters were added to the overall operating rank and file over the past nine months.

This addition in daily staffing has returned all four Tours to nine members and allows three fire apparatus to be staffed at times.
With three apparatuses in service, emergency response times and wear and tear on the larger apparatus will be reduced. It will also help firefighters operate as safely and effectively as possible and most importantly improve the level of service provided to the people of Westfield.

"Thank you to the Mayor and Council for being in full support of the increase in staffing, your team truly demonstrated your commitment to this department and all the public safety entities of this community. I commend this administration for sharing similar visions and values in regard to delivering effective fire services in both emergency response and community risk and safety," said the fire department.
