2 Car Burglaries, Amazon Package Theft Reported In Westfield

The Westfield Police Department released its blotter for incidents over the past week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Two cars were reportedly burglarized, and Amazon packages and a license plate were stolen, according to the recent police blotter.

Westfield Police Blotter – Sept. 22 to Sept. 28:

On Sept. 22 at 10:32 p.m.: A victim reports his vehicle was burglarized sometime on Sunday, Sept. 22, while parked in the South Avenue train station lot. According to the victim, someone entered his vehicle and damaged the steering column. The victim also reported that his New Jersey identification card, American Express credit card and $1,300 in cash were all stolen from the vehicle. The victim was not sure if the vehicle was secured when parked.

On Sept. 22 at 10:32 p.m.: A victim reports his vehicle was burglarized sometime on Sunday, Sept. 22, while parked in the South Avenue train station lot. According to the victim, someone entered his vehicle and damaged the steering column and ignition. At the time of report, the victim was not able to determine if anything was removed/missing from the vehicle. The victim was unsure if the vehicle was secured while parked in the lot.

On Sept. 23 at 8:56 a.m.: A resident of the 200 block of Cacciola Place reported an incident of theft. The resident noticed that somoene stole a license plate from his motorcycle which was parked on the front lawn of his property.

On Sept. 23 at 3:15 p.m.: Iman Essiet, 34, Newark, was arrested for an outstanding wanted person warrant out of New York City Police Department during an investigation in the 200 block of E. Broad St. She was processed and committed to the Essex County Jail awaiting extradition to New York.

On Sept. 25 at 2:09 p.m.: A business located in the 300 block of W. South Avenue reports a theft of approximately 20 gallons of used cooking oil. The value of the stolen cooking oil is estimated to be $60. The theft occurred over a timeframe of about a week. The theft was discovered when the third-party company contracted to retrieve the oil observed the container was tampered with.

On Sept. 27 at 3:20 p.m.: A resident on the 200 block of Walnut Street reported that she saw on her "Ring" Doorbell security camera that four packages were delivered to her residence by Amazon. The packages were then stolen off the front porch of her residence by an unknown suspect. The total value was estimated to be $100.
