2 Men Burglarize Home With Residents Inside, Steal Car In Summit: Cops

SUMMIT, NJ — Two men are wanted by police for breaking into a home with residents inside and stealing a car early Friday morning.

At around 5:56 a.m., the Summit Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle from a home on Greenbriar Road.

Further investigation found that at around 1:40 a.m. two men got out of a white Range Rover SUV, which was idle in the street with at least one person in the driver’s seat, said Summit Police Department.

The suspects then went up the driveway where they found an unlocked white 2025 Infiniti QX80. The suspects used a garage door opener, which was inside the Infiniti, to get inside the basement level of the home, said police.

The suspects were in the home for about 5 minutes gathering valuables before one suspect left with two purses, a coat, and several other miscellaneous items, said police.

The other suspect left with the keys to the Infiniti. The first suspect returned to the getaway Range Rover waiting in the street and the other stole the Infiniti, said police.

A third vehicle can be seen driving on Greenbriar Road as the suspects leave the home; however, it is unclear as to whether or not it is involved at this time.

"There was no interaction between the homeowners and suspects while inside the residence, and at this time it does not appear that the suspects proceeded to any other level while inside the house," said police.

In the photo police shared, it also appears one of the suspects was carrying a pistol when he went inside the house.

"The Summit Police Department recognizes the severity of this crime and as always, will be putting maximum effort into locating these suspects. Please remember to lock all doors and report suspicious activity," said police.
