The Council also approved a $38,500 purchase to install acoustical treatments and Audio/Video (A/V) equipment in Town Hall.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Almost $380,000 of upgrades will be coming to Westfield's Town Hall.

Last week, the Town Council approved a resolution for an emergency appropriation of $340,000 needed to replace a rooftop unit and chiller components of an HVAC Air Conditioning System at the Westfield Municipal Building.

The HVAC unit services the community room, recreation department, the court, and the majority of the police department.

"This wasn't an expected maintenance or investment but we are handling it expeditiously," said Councilwoman Linda Habgood.

In order to complete process, the Council needed to amend the budget, award an emergency contract to a vendor to address the problem immediately, and adopt a bond ordinance to provide the funding.

The Council also approved a resolution to purchase and install acoustical treatments in the Council Chambers and audio/video (A/V) equipment for the Council Chambers, Mayor’s Conference room and surrounding areas.

Acoustic panels will be installed on the back wall of the Chamber to assist with sound management in the room and two large monitors will be added - one in the adjacent Mayor's Conference Room and one in the hallway - will allow for overview viewing and help with court interactions throughout the week, according to Habgood.

Bluum USA, Inc. of Phoenix, AZ was awarded the contract for the Town Hall improvements. The contract includes a cost of $9,290 for the acoustical treatment and $29,285 for the design, purchase and installation of A/V equipment and services. This comes to a total cost of $38,575.
