$39K In School, Field And Playground Donations Accepted By Westfield Board Of Education
Anonymous, youth soccer and United Fund gifts will support canopies, field lawn care and a Buddy Bench.
WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Board of Education approved three donations totaling about $39,000, with money and equipment slated for Roosevelt, Elm Street Field and the McKinley playground.
"We're starting this year off with a bang. We have three donations," said Finance and Facilities Committee member Kent Diamond at the Aug. 25 meeting.
The first $10,000 donation was made anonymously for new canopies for student picnic tables at Roosevelt Intermediate School.

"Much needed," Diamond said.
The second donation was from the Westfield Soccer Association, Youth Soccer Association for $27,500 for lawn care at the Elm Street Field.

Diamond added, "That's very generous."
The third donation came from the Westfield United Fund.
According to Diamond, the organization is donating the Buddy Bench with an estimated value of $1,568 for the McKinley playground.
"Tonight, we have $39,000 worth of donations. We're off to a great start," said Diamond.
The board approved all of the donations.
