5 Cars Burglarized, 1 Stolen Overnight In Union
Union Township Police are warning residents to lock their cars following an increase in thefts from unlocked cars in and around the area.

UNION, NJ — An increase in thefts from unlocked cars and stolen cars are being reported in Union Township.
"We had five burglaries into cars the other night in the area of Oakwood Parkway and the theft of a car, which we found in Newark. Surrounding towns are having similar crimes also," Township of Union NJ Police Department reported.
Many of these thefts are happening late at night or in the early morning. And with the warmer weather, more people are outside walking around and looking for valuables in unlocked cars, police noted.

As a result, police are reminding residents to lock their cars and don't leave anything of value visible in your car even if you park your car in the driveway.
Police did arrest a man on Tuesday morning, who was in the area of Erhardt Street, and went into several different cars and stole what ever he could, police report.
